At the recent Anti-Brain Rot Mail-Art Show in Roanoke, Va. mail art was displayed from the late John Ringling representing: The Ringling, 5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, Florida 34243. In response, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art/Florida State University has announced plans to create a Ray Johnson Tribute Mail Art Wing at its Sarasota location. If you can't beat them (or put all the mail artists in jail), then join them seems to be their new motto.

When I was a little bitty boy
my grandmother bought me a cute little toy
Silver bells hangin' on a string
she told me it was my ringling

My ringling, my ringling
I want to play with my ringling
My ringling, my ringling
I want to play with my ringling

And then mother took me to Grammer School
But I stopped all in the vestibule
Every time that bell would ring
catched me playin' with my ringling

Once I was climbing the garden wall
I slipped and had a terrible fall
I fell so hard I heard bells ring
but held on to my ringling

Once I was swimming cross Turtle creek
man them snappers all around my feet
Sure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holdin' my ringling

This here song it ain't so sad
the cutest little song you ever had
those of you who will not sing
You must be playin' with your own ringling museum of art

The Ringling just last week forced this thread to be taken offline (even though it contained some positive comments about them):
On or just before 4/8/15 The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art/Florida State University Police made him remove all comments (positive and negative) that mentioned the museum and FSU.

Is this not censorship? What happened to the right to the freedom of speech since both these sites are located in the USA?
Oh well, who needs rights I guess? How long will it be until The Ringling starts taking down comments from Bentspoon?

Why does the same weirdo (Dennis James Gergel Jr.) keep posting stuff all over the internet about (The) Ringling?
Posted by Anon Amos (Ringling/FSU Employee) on August 21, 2015

Divide and conquer is the name of the game. Those on top are winning, because they make the majority fight amongst themselves over pity little things so that no one has the time to think about the bigger picture and see what the real problems are. And when someone does speak out like Gergel did, they get called names (see above) and are made to look like fools so no one else will dare to stand up and speak some truth. Notice how the Ringling/FSU employee hides behind Anon Amos? See how most people are afraid to stand up and speak their true will?

I am not a fan of Gergel's art, but he has some guts at least.

Hello, What issue/vol. did it appear in? Page numbers? I know Black's essay was also published in Freedom (UK) in 1986.
